Will an engine from a 1995 Probe be okay to put in a 2000 Cougar?

well i am a mechanic and i have seen a lot of things but you cant just drop the engine in a car and see if it will work the pips on the probe are bigger then the cougar and if you dont have the correct pipes and tubes then the car may explode or just not work at all then you might have to junk the cougar
