Newborns....What do they need the most?

I'm going to be a great grandmother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol Have you heard of the Baby Einstein dvds? What do you know about them? What things do you wish you had gotten for your newborn? What things did you use the most or need the most? I'm on SS so I won't have a lot to spend.. but my granddaughter needs ideas of what to tell them for the baby shower. Thanks.
